The Best Places to Sell Used Clothes In Person and Online
Whether you’re doing some spring cleaning or it’s just about time to get rid of old clothes, it’s a win for everyone involved.
Here’s the amazing benefits of letting go of clothes that no longer serve you:
Having a clear space mentally and physically
Making some extra cash on the side
Saving the environment
Your clothes will find a happy home
Donating clothes helps others
I prefer selling clothes in person at a local thrift shop to avoid holding on to clothes until they sell online. It’s great sell my clothes or donate them in the moment. Here are my go-to thrift shops to sell clothes
Uptown Cheapskate (they usually take most of the clothes I sell and are my go-to thrift shop)
Buffalo Exchange (they’re a bit picky with items)
Plato’s Closet
Yelp local thrift shops and call to confirm if they buy used clothes
If you’d like to sell your clothes on online, there are plenty of options. I usually would sell clothes online if it’s a trending or popular clothing item or knowing if it’s an item that would sell fast. The only downside of selling online is that it may be a waiting game for when your clothes sell. Here are the online websites or apps that I recommend:
eBay
eBay tip: To see if an item is actually selling on eBay, search your item in “Advanced Search” > Go to “Search including” and click “Sold items” (Completed items will automatically be selected as well) > Click “Search.” You’ll see the date it was recently sold and how much it was sold for.
Poshmark
Depop
Facebook Marketplace
The RealReal for luxury items
StockX for luxury items, sneakers, streetwear, or sold out items
ThredUP
